a group of coworkers want to go skydiving. i've done it before on vacation in january and it was both terrifying and wonderful so when invited i was excited. the company i did it at is well known and has had no fatalities. that day i started having doubts about going to this local place because i couldn't find any info on it. my coworker is making the arrangements. that night i had an awful dream and kept having thoughts about how dangerous and unsafe the place was(though i know nothing about it). i woke up feeling my heart in my throat. i'm so scared now and, though i want to go, i have a feeling something bad will happen. i would love to have this experience again but i'm really scared about what can happen. would you do it?

Ok... I know others might make fun of me for saying this, but I say, if you have a really bad feeling about something, listen to your gut. Awhile ago when I was on a high school music trip in Montreal, my mother had an interview in NYC. The day before her interview, I took a nap and had a bad dream about her disappearing when she went. The next morning I tracked down a phone card to I could call her and was like, "Oh, this job isn't so great you know. It's too stressful, too long of a commute... etc. I ended up making her late and she missed her train into the city. A little while later I found out the twin towers were falling. Her interview was scheduled at the WTC. After that experience... I totally believe that it is not a good idea to do something you've had a feeling about.
Bad stuff happens all the time without warning. Though I'm a really science-minded girl, I feel like any inkling you get beforehand should be listened to 'cause seriously... why tempt fate? We might just not understand the causes of gut feelings and all that just yet.
Beauty is not a competition. It is in all of us and all around us.
1In my experience, bad dreams were just nerves. Nothing bad ever happened after I had a dream that ended badly. Maybe in your subconscious you are stressed out about it, which lead you to dream about it...since you have dreams to relieve stress in general.
That being said, if you really feel something bad will happen and you are not comfortable going, then don't go.
2If you are nervous, you won't enjoy it. It's not like you have never done it before, and you have something to prove to someone. Personally, I don't get skydiving...I see how it could be thrilling, but every mishap involves death, there is no such thing as a minor accident.
Jumping out of planes and falling to the earth, relying on a piece of canvas to keep you from death? Not for me!
Jocupcake, amazing story.
