Hey everyone! I post on the forums usually everyday, I go by the username Chrstne, but I am Chrissy, and I wanted some opinions. My best feature has to be my eyes, they are big, hazel, and a nice shape. I usually wear black liner, but since I am very fair sometimes it can tend to look harsh on me. I wear eyeshadow minimally and usually in neutral tones which I don't find too garish. It's the summertime, so I am looking to play around a bit, and in September I want colors of makeup (specifically eye make up) that won't bee too harsh or distracting, considering I am a teacher.
I have done a lot of researching, and decided I'd pair black liner with a pink hued shadow. I know greens, plums and khakis look good on someone with my hazel eyes. My biggest problem is eyeliner, I'd say. Brown tends to get lost on me, while black can be too harsh. I thought eyeshadow would soften the look, but I wasn't sure if I was going in the right direction. I was thinking of pairing brown liner with green shadows, but thought purple/plum eyeliner would go well with green or brown shadow as well. Maybe black liner could pair well with anything.
I just wanted to know what those of you with hazel eyes did to make your eyes pop that didn't look ridiculous. If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd be more than happy to hear them.
Thanks,
Chrissy

I have hazel eyes and am fair. I found a great eye-liner from clinique that is called charcoal brown. It works well for my skin tone. I think it would look good w/ pink.
1My eyes are hazel(green/brown) and purple/plum is great for bringing out the green.
2I have brown eyes and fair to medium skin, and when I want to go light, I will use a dark brown shadow/liner with a smudge brush as a liner to keep the line from looking too severe, and then a nice neutral pinkish/taupe shadow from Laura Mercier called Cashmere. I will wear Cashmere alone or as a base color. Another great color from her line is Sherazade, which is not too olive and not too forest. I think it is the perfect green.
3I have dark brown eyes and fair-to-tanned skin, depending on the season. I usually try to go for a natural look and don't use eyeshadow on a daily basis, especially not in the summer. If I want to shake it up a little, I play with different liner colors. (Always use the curler and mascara.) Plums and browns are great for definition in the daytime. I've also used cream eyeshadow as liner in a bright teal or royal blue... it's quite a statement though, and not something I'd recommend for teaching. By the way, what color mascara do you use? You might try a colored mascara?
4I usually wear black. I have dark, long, thick lashes -- but the black makes them pop a little more. It's funny how black mascara can look good on nearly anyone, but black eyeliner, not so much. I love my eyes and like to bring them out, and I have definitely cut back on liner (never line my bottom waterline anymore), and think it's time to add new colors to see what else I can do. Color mascara is a good idea...but then again, do I really want someone to get right up in my face and be like, oh, wow, you have green eyelashes. Maybe it's more subtle than that?
5Update: I used plum liner with silver shadow and black mascara -- wow, it looks MUCH less harsh than black all while bringing out my eyes. The green really pops, it's gorgeous! I paired plum liner with plum shadow and it looked like too much, so I think the contrast is really very nice. I still think green would look good with more subtle brows, so I will try that look tomorrow. I lightly lined under the lashline with a plum shadow that matched the liner, so it gives me something on the bottom without being gaudy. I am impressed! Thank you all for your opinions and comments, it means a lot!
Oh, and this is a fantastic teaching look! Subtle, but awesome.
6Hi Chrissy,
I am a redhead, with fair skin and green eyes. I have found a great trick with black eyeliner is to get a powder liner and a straight-edged brush. Then, I get the brush wet and apply the liner right to the base of the eyelashes. (Usually, I have to hold my eye up a little to get the right place.) Most people don't even notice that you are wearing eyeliner, but it makes your lashes pop more because the base looks thicker.
Also, i love my plum colored liner and often pair it with a gold eyeshadow. Oh, and sometimes I like a lavender colored eyeshadow - as long as it isn't too white or gray.
