I'm 20 years old, and for several years I've dyed my hair black, and for the past year, dyed my bangs blonde. I really like my hair, and I used to have "fishbowl green" bangs, which my boyfriend found to be a real turn on. Due to work though, I was asked to change the color of my hair, so that's when I switched to the blonde.
The thing is, my mother thinks I should dye my hair a different color, or in her eyes, a more adult color, like a chocolate brown or something that's not black. To some degree I agree with her, I'm ready to change my look to look a little more adult, but at the same time my boyfriend says he loves my hair just the way it is, and doesn't want me to change it. I'm stuck between both of their opinions, because on one side I really do want to change to be more adult and at the same time I want to keep my fun, creative look. I figure I'm not taking on a serious career at the moment, so is it necessary to make an adult change now?
I have very light skin and blue eyes. Any suggestions on what type of hair colors would best accent my skin and eyes? And how should I decide between the opinions of my mother and my boyfriend of two years?

Golden blonde looks great with light skin / blue eyes. You can leave some back under hair black, that would look awesome when it peaks out.
1Blonde is always the first reaction with your skin and eyes. I think that brown with blonde highlights would look really nice too though. I've always liked the look of dark hair and light eyes.
2I think blonde would be too drastic of a change for you.. Why can you not stay black but maybe a more natural black? Or a dark, rich chocolate brown with some black low lights/highlights??? There is nothing unprofessional about black hair as long as you have a nice cut and style. The green hair needs to go if you want a good job. Sad but true. I think you need to go with what is best for us, a compromise. No need to become a beach blonde chick if that isn't you... you can look "normal" (I use that term based on what society thinks is normal) and be naughty on the inside and after work haha!
3LOL!!!! not what is best for us, what is best for you LOL!!! that is funny.. good thing I was reading what I wrote or I'd sound like such a little snot. hahahahaha
4Try going for an all over color that is adult with streaks of bright color all over- maybe red or blonde. Besides, you are still 20 years old. You can play with whatever hair color you want. You are not going to have have your hair punk green when you are 65 right?
5Maybe you should give your hair a break from dyeing and see what the natural you looks like! I only say this because a friend of mine's hairstylist recently told her she can't dye her hair anymore after many years of continuous dying. I know that's not the case for everyone, but since you aren't sure what to do, let it go natural while you wait! I think people always look the best with their natural color.
