I lost 70 lbs, and I feel wonderful. My boyfriend is thrilled that I have my self esteem back as well. However, I had some stretch marks before my loss, and I still have them now. I was wondering if anyone tried things that worked for their stretch marks? I am not overly concerned, since I would rather have stretch marks than be fat again...but I don't think it would be bad to try to get rid of them. Suggestions, or is it just hopeless?

Nothing, nothing, nothing but lasers remove stretch marks. If they were still pink you might be able to fade them with scar cream, but since you've had them for a while and they're surely white, nothing will remove them.
1Congrats on the weight loss! 70 lbs is awesome.
I don't have an answer to your problem but I wanted to say that I think what you did is awesome
2I am also in the same boat. I lost about 30 lbs or so few years back. I still have stretch marks on my hips/butt. They never go away, but you can minimize the appearance. What worked for me is to excercise more and build muscle - for example if I do a lot of stair climber it helps reduce appearance of marks on my hips/butt. Also tanning. I noticed when I am darker they are not as visible.
3wow. good for you! i've had stretch marks since my 4th grade growth spurt and have never seen one disappear. i've heard the same as luisa's advice-you can't get rid of them without a doctor's help. the key is to disguise what you have. keep your skin looking good-exfoliate and moisturize. then try tanning lotion to make them blend in. they'll still be there, but they won't be as noticeable.
4you are NOT alone! unfortunately, gaining weight and losing weight cause them. there are a few creams on the market... i am using cosmetyn right now, and i know friends have tried strivectin... both do work but ONLY for NEW (pink) stretch marks. unfortunately, everyone is right and the white ones need to be covered up or lasered off.
5congrats on the weight loss!
A few friends of mine have used Bio Oil on their stretch marks, and apparently it helped. But ya know, even if you do by a miracle get rid of them, they will just pop up again if you get pregnant or something.
6The girls in my group of friends (we're all in our 20's) did a survey one night, and out of the almost 15 of us - only one didn't have stretch marks haha No idea why, except she's thin/athletic, eats well, drinks plenty of water, and well - she's the youngest haha
Personally I got mine across my hips during my late teen's growth spurt, weight had nothing to do with it... my hips just did the "woman thing" pretty much overnight
7How much money do you have? The more you are willing to spend the better those stretch marks will disappear. Try going to a dermatologist. If you have insurance there will be a small copay only. Doctors now have some great prescription creams they could recommend. The really good stuff you can't buy off a shelf. Maybe Retinal or Rentin-A? Also there are some amazing lasers that can help too. If you google for this type of treatment I'm sure you can find something. Only problem is the stuff that works can be really really pricey.
