Hey all, I'm in my last year at University and only have 6 classes left until I get my degree. The problem is I feel like I'm reaching a point where I've been at it so long that my motivation is going way down. Because of this, I failed and had to repeat two classes. I really want to finish the year off right because I'm almost done, and I don't want to have to take longer than necessary due to failing classes (or have my GPA go down). Has anyone ever gone through this and how did you motivate yourself to really make the last push and study hard when you're just getting tired of it all?

It really helps when you're paying for college yourself... nobody likes wasting money. But I hear you... I hit a rough patch when I was almost done with school. I joined a volunteer group to help me see a little more clearly the things I could contribute to society with my degree. I'm sure everyone goes through something like that at some point in their lives, and refocusing on something new and constructive will always help to put a fresh perspective on things. Good luck!
1Burnout is SO common at this point. I remember when I graduated, the last thing I wanted to do was go get a job doing the same thing! But I came around and remembered that when you're getting paid to do something, it helps.
Try scheduling yourself one full day each week when you don't have to even think about school. Give yourself permission to totally blow it off. If that's not possible because of classes or homework, shoot for 4 hours. Say every Tuesday till noon you can do whatever you want. Then really dig in when it's time to get back to work.
2i like luismapacha's scheduling suggestion. i also had this problem at the end of college and having a study and relaxation schedule helped me a lot. I would also suggest finding a place to study where you arent distracted...different people need different amounts of background noise, etc. i personally could never study at home but the student union was perfect for me because there was just a little bit of noise but still people studying everywhere to keep me focused. the library was too quiet for me. i also would recommend taking breaks...i would take a 10 minute break every hour and just walk around or make a phone call. that really helped me focus when it was time to work again, and it also helped to know there was another break coming up before too long. good luck!!
3What helped me was scheduling as well. Also, taking mental healthy days. So, one or two days a month, I'd stick around home and get work done, and even do the next weeks assignments so I could be ahead of the game. That really helped me feel less stressed out, and it cleared up some time for me to get done with things. I also made it a point during my last semester to free up Mondays, so every Monday I would pamper myself. I have to admit that my other god send was my boyfriend, who would see me in tears and help me write my papers or come up with outlines for me. It helped so much when I was under so much pressure. AND, every night, I stopped homework at the same time, no excuses. I didn't have the same classes everyday, so if I didn't finish my biology homework that Tuesday, I could do it tomorrow because it was due on Wednesday. I prioritized things that needed to get done first, etc. Good luck. I know it's tough.
4Even though I am only going into my 2nd year of high school, what I do when I just feel like I can't go to school anymore, I just say to myself ' If you want to have a good job and a good incoe and life you just have to suck it up and deal with it, you're almost done' Try that! Best of luck!
Peace out!
