Hi, I have a question for all of you weight loss and health experts. I am 5'6", currently about 160 pounds. I have 93 days to lose about 50 pounds. My question is, that if I work really hard at keeping eating healthy, and work out every day too, will this be a reasonable goal? And if you have any other 'tips' and 'tricks', feel free to send me some! Thanks so much!

If you lost that much weight in that short of a time, your skin would not bounce back, and you would have excess skin all over. That is one of the risks of losing such a large amount of weight in a little amount of time.
I also wonder why you would want to be 110 lbs at 5'6''. That is extremely thin, and I wonder why you would consider that an "ideal" weight. Also since you are not largely overweight, an extreme diet and fitness routine is not really suited to you. A loss of more than 1-2 lbs/ week would be unhealthy and damaging to your body. It also puts you at a much greater risk for gaining it back. You could safely lose about 20 lbs in the 93 days you give.
I sense that there is a deeper issue here though. You may want to make sure you are seeing yourself clearly. Your goal is hardly realistic or healthy. Before you embark on such a weight loss, you may want to make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.

1ash- you just said everything I was going too
At your height a healthy weight would be 130 plus or minus about 5%. That is 20lbs over where you want to be. Im really concerned with your time. Why so specific? Putting so much pressure on yourself like you are is probably going to lead to unhealthy practices.
DO NOT EXERCISE EVERYDAY!!!!!!!! This is bad for your body!!!! You have to give your body a day or two to relax and restore itself. A healthy workout schedule is three times a week for at least thirty minutes
If you really want to lose weight you have to change your lifestyle. I feel like you are probably only wanting to lose weight for some sort of event. You do not want to make lifestyle change.
I too think that you have some issues that you need to work out. Your goal makes me wonder how healthy your self image is
2I think doing speed or being anoerexic are about the only ways you can achieve what you want. Who do you think you are, Nicole Richie?
No, this isn't a reasonable goal and I have no idea what is compelling you to perform this magical body transformation in 3 months. Everyone wants some big old miracle instead of just adopting some better habits. If you go from doing nothing to dieting and exercising constantly you will end up hurting your body and it's unlikely you'll be able to keep any of the weight off.
A more reasonable goal is losing 30 pounds over the course of 30 weeks. Instant gratification? No. But it's certainly a healthier way to go about it.
3that would be too fast in my opinion... just work out and eat rigth and see what you can accomplish in that amount of time--- make sire that you are doing things healthily ps- 110 at 5'6 is just too skinny.
4TINA!
I think that is a little too fast sweetie. That is only three months. You would have to do some serious stuff to get that much weight to drop that fast.
Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is 25.8. That is slightly overweight for your height and current weight of 160. And that is ok sweetie. You are not considered overweight.
If you were to drop to 110 pounds at your height - your BMI would be 17.8. That is underweight. According to the chart - to be at the lowest point where you are at a healthy weight - it should be no less than 124 and no more than 154 pounds. Your true goal should to lose around 36 pounds if you want to get to 124 pounds.
Now remember - muscle weights more than fat. If you are working out and lifting weights - your scale may not move - but you want to base it on your clothes fit.
I would try to do at least 30-45 minutes of cardio everyday a week. That does not mean you need to beat yourself up at the gym. Maybe walk two days a week, then do a step class, maybe a yoga class, etc. Add some weights into your life as well. You don’t have to go and rumble with the big buff boys at the gym. But using 5-10 pound weights will add lean muscle mass and give you great shape to your arms. Also invest in a good exercise ball. There are sooooo many amazing things you can do with a ball from push ups to ab crunches to calf raises etc. You can find a lot of great moves on FitSugar.
Find something to cut from your diet that you don’t need. Sodas are a huge cut in calories. Drink a lot of water instead or try the Crystal Light To Go packets if you want flavor.
Try to cut out fast food from your diet as well. Try to cook at home and bringing your lunch to work so you are not tempted to eat out. Keep little snacks such as veggies or yogurt when you are feeling like you want to nibble on something. And of course don’t be afraid to indulge yourself. Don’t starve yourself from a favorite food – keep it in moderation. If you don’t let yourself have a tiny bit of something – you are more likely to fall off the food wagon.
The bottom line is you want to lose weight in a healthy time frame. Even if you lose 10 pounds – it will make such a huge difference that everyone will notice.
Good Luck sweetie!
5I am with everyone else here a 50 pound weight loss in 3 months is too fast and too much for your height. My tips and tricks are to eat healthfully and begin a work out program. I wouldn't jump right into 5 or 6 days a week at the gym otherwise you will burn out and get frustrated. The thing that has worked best for me is my first week 3 days 45 minutes of cardio, 2nd week 4 days 45 minutes of cardio, 3rd week 5 days 45 minutes of cardio 3 days of weight training, and 4th week 6 days 45 minutes of cardio 3 days of weight training. I have been so much more successful. I would also suggest attending Weight Watchers to help you with portion control and that you can talk with other people that might be able to help you create a more realistic/healthy goal for yourself. You could really hurt yourself with your current plan.
